DIRECTOR EXPLICATION

 

The King of Madagascar is a featured movie conceived long time ago which I started working on, 

after the less expensive aspects of the film were sorted, gaining this way substantial experience 

by understanding how complex production challenges, such as FX, Sound, Design, Decoration were 

fixed.  Due to this exposure, we are confident to ensure that The King of Madagascar production has 

been successful. The Film's genre targets all types of audiences, since our focus is to make the 

film as much attractive as possible. It contains both male and female stories that eventually merge 

into one.

In terms of the narration style, the most similar movie it might be compared to is "Sherlock 

Holmes" (2009 Guy Ritchie). If we compare it by velio, the closest example is " Master and 

Commander". The plot has a genuine historical basis, so we do not tend to immerse into the fantasy genre. The film has a strong link to realistic cinematography language.  Three major aspects of the film are: charismatic protagonists, interesting and intriguing plot, and casting of movie stars to fit into the characters perfectly. One of the important advantages is the costume and accessories inventory base that belongs to the production company and allows significant saving on the costs of these types of movies; and fit into a relatively small budget, of 16000000 dollars, for a 

historical adventure movie.

 

SYNOPSIS

 

The Pirate King in the Republic of Madagascar, Olivier Levasseur sends emissaries to European 

monarchs – to obtain the corsair marine certificates and legalize its fleet. At the same time he 

asks to find his son, whom he had not seen since he was born. The news of his fleet wakens a fight 

between the European

monarchs who are trying to steal each other thunder in order to possess Levasseur’s fleet. The 

adventurer Andersen and his friend pirate Bucket take advantage of this situation. Andersen decides 

to participate in the expedition and offers his assistance to Peter The Great, by sending an 

expedition to Madagascar’s Pirate King, to turn their fleet over to the Russian side. Whereas the 

King of Great Britain George sends his agent Mary to thwart Peter plan. The pieces are set, the 

game has started , but at the beginning all the cards get mixed up by midshipman Andrew Zbruev, who 

accidentally prevents the arrest of agent Mary right after returning from his voyage. Being 

arrested and redeeming his guilt, he is obliged to leave and join the expedition’s team secretly. 

The matter gets complicated by the fact that he is not the only one takes part of the expedition. 

Mary has a clandestine ally in the team. The daughter of a wealthy nobleman, Daria, being in love 

with Zbruev, equips a ship and put out to sea after him on hearing that her beloved Zbruev got 

arrested. She has no clue what a fatal part she is destined to play. The mission of Zbruev and his 

affiliate Andersen is to identify the spy in the team and deliver Peter’s letters to Levasseur. 

Nevertheless, Mary’s plan succeeds and the expedition fails. The characters have to flee from the 

ship to meet Pirate King Levasseur in Madagascar. In their homeland they are declared betrayers. 

Zbruev sentenced to death. However, a cunning plan allows him to stay alive. He and his eternal 

opponent Mary make their way to Madagascar.

They are destined to play a card again and find the pirate’s treasure. Notwithstanding pirates are 

crashed and opponents are forced to unite in order to avoid being killed by a powerful enemy.

 

FULL-LENGTH    FILM    VERSION

 

Based on all the available data at the moment, it is possible to conduct a quick analysis of the 

film's potential summarised in three main points: payback, entertainment factor, target audience. 

The first and most important is the payback, needless to say the reliability of the project. The 

first thing to re-enforce is the film's expectation, since there are differences in the completed 

film and the film in production; if this is clear then it should answer most of the questions. Lets 

try to analyze the situation; in the last few decades projects such as King of Madagascar had not 

been produced in Russia. By entertainment factor, the movie VIY 

(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLYFRceOzdc) , proved that a spectacular and popular movie can be very successful as it raised nearly $30 million dollars in Russia, therefore high quality product is profitable and cost effective. We will not overstimate expectations, however, the financial potential of the film can range between $17 to 30 Million Dollars only in Russia and the CIS. The 

selection of distributors is one of the key aspects of the project.

The fact that the authors of the project had a meeting with the head of Disney (Russia), resulting 

in agreements to consider the draft for further distribution once the film is released is a clear 

sign of the positive background for the investor's expectations. The second advantage is the 

pre-casting of characters in the film who are not only bright actors but also sex symbols (due to 

precast they are Vincent Perez and Nikita Efremov). Given the fact that the main audience of cinema are females, the mentioned cast adds a huge advantage to the general expectations and to the box office. An important fact is the possibility of involvement of other foreign stars in the film 

(Sarah Butler, Haley Webb) openinng the door to foreign markets. Moreover, the company «Scott 

Carlson Entertainment», which has already participated in the american casting for this picture and 

has led negotiations on the participation of Hollywood stars, is ready to act as a distributor and 

partner for the American market; guarnateing additional profits apart from the Russian, CIS and 

European distributions.

 

TV  SERIAL  VERSION

 

As for this format of the project, it fits into the framework of vertical-horizontal planning, 

because the main storyline can be divided into two parts, and at the same time could be united in 

an unified story. Planned production technology will allow to give a high velio and, at the same 

time, will not exceed the budget of 550000-600000 $ for one serie, and if additional partners will 

allow us to raise a larger amount of capital, it will broaden the scope of technology and lead to a 

more high scale shooting. For a complete package, 2500000-3000000 dollars must be added to the 

full-length film budget (16000000 dollars) to get as a result 8 eries,   in   which   the   full-length  film   is   made   of   the   first   three   series   and   the   subsequent   5   are   the   continuation   of   the story. Series,   in   which   the   full-length   film   is   made   of   the   first   three   series   and   the   subsequent   5   are   the   continuation   of   the   story.
